Ropeway, toy train to be restored in Odisha’s Nandankanan soon

Forest and Environment minister Bikram Keshari Arukh today informed the Odisha Assembly that the ropeway and toy train services that had stopped functioning, in Nandankanan Zoo, would be made operational again very soon.

NandankananThe announcement by the minister came in response to the concern of the members cutting across party lines.

The minister said the tender for operationalisation of the toy train has been finalised while his department is reviewing the proposal of the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) for operationalisation of the ropeway.

“Besides, the department has reviewed the development Kanjia lake inside the zoo premises and will ask the zoo authorities to clean the weeds and silt from the lake for restoration of boating services for the tourists,” Arukh said.

BJD member Amar Prasad Satpathy said the zoo needs all round development, especially for the tourist for which the Tourism department has a major role to play.
