Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Rourkela Assistant Collector Manoranjan Nayak for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Officials of the anti-corruption agency had yesterday raided multiple places in this connection. Simultaneous searches were conducted at his office in Rourkela; two residences in Rourkela (MIG-27 and MIG 264, Chhend Colony, Kalinga Vihar); ancestral house in Jajpur district; and an apartment at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar.
Vigilance officers had unearthed assets worth Rs 2 crore belonging to Nayak.
Prior to his appointment as the Assistant Collector, Nayak was promoted as the Additional Tahasildar few months ago. Earlier, he was working as the senior clerk in Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
1 Addl. SP, 4 DSPs, 5 Insps, and other staff are conducting the searches on the strength of search warrant issued by Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
