Rourkela: Fake currency notes of Rs 16 lakh face value seized, interstate criminal held

Rourkela: Police yesterday seized fake currency notes having face value of Rs 16.11 lakh in Odisha’s Rourkela city and arrested an interstate criminal in this connection.

The accused has been identified as Sk Ahemmad, a resident of Sector-17, Rourkela.

On the basis of reliable information, the Special Task Force with the help of Rourkela District Police detected the case of illegal business/ possession of the counterfeit currency notes in Sector-17 here.

During search, the fake notes, a laptop, a colour printer and other incriminating articles were recovered and seized from his possession.

A case has been registered in this connection under Sections 489-A, 489-B, 489-C, 489-D and 120 (B) of the IPC.

The STF had in July seized fake currency notes of Rs 29.41 lakh face value and arrested four persons.
