‘Rourkela Fest’ to begin from Jan 14; entertainment stars poised to thrill hockey enthusiasts

Rourkela: At least 25 eminent artistes are all set to give a power-packed performance in an entertainment event ‘Rourkela Fest’, which is to begin from January 14 and continue till January 22 in view of FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023.

The Steel City has geared up for the biggest extravaganza in recent times and the City Festival will be held in line with the Men’s Hockey World Cup, an administrative official said.

The World Cup matches will be played in between January 13 and January 28 at the newly-constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium here. As many as 20 matches will be conducted in the sports facility. It is expected that a large number of hockey enthusiasts from and outside Sundargarh district will throng the city to witness the international sports event. The ‘Rourkela Fest’ will be organised at Melana Ground in Sector-13 to entertain the hockey enthusiasts, the official added.

The entertainment programme will be organised every day between 4 pm to 11 pm. However, a number of popular Bollywood stars will steal the show by performing on the stage. ‘Starry Nights’, which is to be held from 7 pm onwards, will be the main attraction.

Bollywood actress Disha Patani, famous singer Sukhwinder Singh, dance and musical troupe ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Rapper Big Deal’ will perform on an inaugural evening.

Several other noted artistes who will take part include Beni Dayal, Prince Dance Group, Ananya Nanda, Lisha Mishra, Ruturaj Mohanty, Sniti Mishra, Harihar Das and Navya Jaiti.

Notably, entry tickets have been priced at Rs 750, Rs 500 and Rs 100.
