Rourkela Steel Plant employee dies in mishap

Rourkela:  In an unfortunate incident, a 56-year-old employee of Rourkela Steel Plant  (RSP) here died in a mishap on the plant premises today.

The deceased identified as Jinga Lakra was working in the Traffic and Raw Material Division.

Sources said Lakra was returning to his house this morning, when a goods-laden truck hit his motorcycle near the traffic gate on the plant premises. Critically-injured Lakra was later rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH). However, he died while undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital due to excess bleeding.

Following his death, various workers’ unions demanded compensation and a job to the next kin of the deceased.
