Royal Bengal tiger scare in Odisha: Three women critical in attack

Anandapur: Panic gripped among locals in Satakosia forest range on Anandapur border in Keonjhar district following three persons including two women were critically injured in Royal Bengal Tiger attack yesterday.

The injured persons have been admitted to Anandapur subdivision hospital for treatment.

According to reports, Basta Murmu (68), one of the victims, of Palabani village was attacked by the Royal Bengal Tiger while she was going for defecation in field near her house on Wednesday morning. The wild animal fled the spot after the locals rushed hearing the woman’s loud voice.

The woman was taken to hospital after she sustained injuries on legs and head.

The tiger continued to create panic in the area when two more women Kuntala Nayak (50) and Gunjari Sankhuala (55) of Chiliripasi village of Dhatikidiha panchayat under Thakurmunda block were attacked by the Bengal tiger at around 3 pm when they had taken out their goats outside for grazing.

The tiger first attacked Kuntala. When her associate Gunjari defended, the wild animal attacked her leaving Kuntala. Both Kuntala and Gunjari were critically hurt. They sustained injuries on face.

After getting information, the forest officials rushed the spot and reviewed the situation.
