Rs 10,000 KALIA money on first day of BJD Govt in Odisha

Jeypore: As the poll fever is getting momentum with several Central leaders’ frequent visit to Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced to disburse the due amount of KALIA money at a row on the first day of formation of BJD government.

“The genuine beneficiaries under KALIA scheme will get the two-installment money of Rs 10,000 in one time, if the BJD is voted to power in Odisha,” said Patnaik during his election campaign rally at Jeypore today.

As the release of KALIA funds to eligible farmers has been halted due to enforcement of model code of conduct in the State, the two installment amount will be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries after the BJD retains power.

He said that not a single farmer will be deprived of getting KALIA benefit in the State.

“The farmers are on the top of our agenda and poll manifesto. Around 40 lakh farmers have been benefited under KALIA scheme so far and another 25 lakh farmers will be added to the list soon,” he said.

Addressing the huge public gathering in Koraput town, Patnaik once again targeted the Centre alleging it of being biased towards Odisha.

He alleged that Centre discontinued the SC/ST Scholarship and KBK schemes for the tribals in Odisha.

He recalled the adverse phase of the State that was devastated by the cyclonic storms like Phailin, Hudhud and Titli.

“No leader from Centre came to Odisha to stand by people during the cyclones and drought. Since it is election time, the Central leaders paying their frequent visit to the State to get votes,” the CM said.

“However, I am with people and will always remain with you,” he said appealing to people of Jeypore to cast their votes in favour of BJD candidates for both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
