Rs 12,790 cr Supplementary Budget tabled in Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The Supplementary Budget for 2018-19 amounting to Rs 12,790 crore was today tabled in the Odisha Legislative Assembly by Finance Minister Shashi Bhusan Behera.

Out of the total amount, provision of Rs 1800 crore has been made towards Administrative Expenditure, Rs 9611 crore for Programme Expenditure, Rs 1364 towards Disaster Response Funds and Rs 15 crore for Transfers from State Budget, the minister said briefing reporters at a presser.

While Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water department received the highest allocation of Rs 3141.74 crore, Rural Development department has been allocated Rs 2269.55 crore. The Disaster Management Department will get Rs 1414.76 crore.

Out of the programme expenditure provision of Rs 9,611 crore, Rs 6,097 crore has been allocated for infrastructure and rural development sector, said Behera.

A provision of Rs 400 crore is made under BASUDHA scheme to provide drinking water, Rs 1500 crore for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and Rs 2,065 crore for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Under the administrative expenditure, the supplementary budget has allocated Rs 750 crore towards salary for regularization of Sikshya Sahayaks.

The Supplementary Budget got tabled in the House amid ruckus by opposition Congress and BJP members. Later, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the Assembly till tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, uproar by the Opposition members over different issues rocked the Assembly. As soon as the House assembled for the day, Congress members rushed to the well of the House opposing the fuel price hike. Similarly, BJP members raised the issue of teachers’ strike and created pandemonium.

Amid noisy scenes, the Speaker adjourned the House initially till 11.30 am and later till 12.30 pm as similar situation prevailed after resemblance.
