Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today granted Rs 15 lakh financial assistance to the next kin of Working Journalist Prabir Kumar Pradhan who succumbed to wily Covid-19 few months back.

In a statement, the I&PR department said the assistance has been provided under Rule-7 of the Odisha Working Journalists Welfare Fund Rules 2006.

On November 5, Prabir, a Senior Journalist of News 18 Odia died of the Covid disease while undergoing treatment at the Aditya Ashwini COVID Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Prabir is survived by his wife and a three-year-old daughter.
