Rs 1 lakh ex gratia for kin of 7 Odisha road mishap victims

Bhubaneswar, June 17:

Expressing grief over the tragic death of seven tribal labourers in a road accident in Kandhamal district on Monday afternoon, Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the victims kin.

“The amount would be paid from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund”, said Kandhamal collector N Tirumala Nayak.

The mishap took place when the driver of a fully-loaded mini truck in which they were travelling, failed to negotiate a curve in the Pakari ghat road under Gochhapara police station limits and were buried under cowdung manure loaded that the vehicle was carrying.

While the locals pulled out the bodies of the deceased from manure heap, the three seriously injured labourers were rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
