Rs 2770 cr damage assistance approved for Titili-hit districts: SRC

Bhubaneswar:  The State Government today approved damage assistance of Rs 2770 crore for districts affected by cyclone Titli and subsequent flood earlier this month.

Speaking to mediapersons after an executive committee meeting of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority here, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said. “Damage assistance to the tune of Rs 2,770 crore has been given approval. While Rs 375 crore has been earmarked for worst-affected Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.”

Collectors of the three districts have already been given Rs 102 crore for provision of first installment of the Gratuitous Relief (GR). The rest money will be transferred to bank accounts of the affected persons later, Sethi said.

For various repair and restoration works, the government has approved Rs 27 crore for Energy Department, Rs 20 crore for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Rs 7 crore for Water Resources Department, Rs 50 crore for Works Department, Rs 55 crore for Rural Development Department and Rs 624 crore for Panchayati Raj Department, he added.

The meeting held at the State Secretariat here was chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
