‘Rs 8.2 cr loans granted to street vendors in Odisha under PM SVANidhi’

Bhubaneswar: The Centre sanctioned Rs 8.2 crore as collateral-free loans to street vendors in Odisha under the PM SVANidhi Yojana. This was informed by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in a tweet today.

The Union Minister further said the move will help the street vendors to resume their livelihoods affected by Covid19-induced challenges.

Out of the total 63,222 street vendors identified in the State, more than 23,550 vendors have applied for affordable working capital loans being provided by the Centre under the scheme till now, he mentioned.

“Our street vendors form a crucial part of the informal micro-economy. PM SVANidhi brings banking at the doorsteps of these nano-entrepreneurs helping them become more self-reliant and thereby empowering them,” the Union Minister said.
