The party’s decision to lift Madhi’s suspension was announced by Pradesh Congress Disciplinary Committee chairman Harihar Karan.

The MLA from Chitrakonda Madhi was suspended from the party on charges of defying the party whip. She had remained absent during the voting of a no trust motion moved by the opposition Congress in the Assembly against speaker Pradip Amat in April 2013.

Speaking to the media about the lifting of suspension order, Harihar Karan explained that the lady legislator’s absence during the voting on the no-trust motion was unintentional and she had failed to reach the House due to communication problems.

Karan said she has been actively participating in the programmes of the party since then and the party felt that there was no reason to keep her under suspension any further.

Madhi told reporters here that she hailed from a remote area and had failed to reach the House on the day due to problem of communication and with Rajya Sabha polls round the corner, the suspension order would have been a problem for the party.
