RSP employee dies in plant mishap in Odisha

Rourkela, May 10:

An employee of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) died in a freak mishap inside the plant at Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district this morning.

Sources said, Bijay Bodra (56), a worker in CPP-I coal handling unit, had come to the plant on a morning shift duty.

While on duty at the unit, he had gone inside a wagon without the notice of the JCB operator, who, while unloading coal from the wagon, dragged Bijay severing his two legs with grievous head injury.

He was rushed to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) where the doctors declared him as ‘brought dead’.

The incident took place at about 8 AM.

The deceased is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.

Soon after the mishap, the RSP authorities announced adequate compensation to the family of Borda and a job to his wife.
