Rourkela, Nov 28:

CEO at OBBP (2)

The Ore Bedding and Blending Plant (OBBP) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) created a new record in single day wagon unloading on Wednesday by breaking its record achieved on November 12.

The OBBP collective notched up the highest ever figures by unloading a total of 435 wagons on Wednesday. The previous best was of 433 wagons, said a press release issued by RSP today.

It is worth mentioning here that as part of the massive modernization and expansion being implemented at RSP, the Raw Material Handling Facility has been augmented.  Post expansion, the unit now has a capacity of 12 Million Tons Per Annum (MTPA). The augmentation facilities that have been added include receiving, unloading, reclaiming and finally transporting of raw materials required for Blast Furnace-5, Calcining Plant and Sintering Plants, the release added.

Besides substantially reducing the Demurrage, the record numbers of wagon unloading also improve the fines and base mix stacking at the department.

GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer of RSP visited the department accompanied by V Sankaranarayanan, GM in-charge (Works) today. While congratulating the collective on its superb performance, the CEO exhorted it to focus on enhancing the base mix preparation as the pre requisite for enhancing hot metal production. The employees in turn assured the top management that they will contribute their best so that their unit can surpass the targets, the release said.
