RTOs in Odisha to become queue-less

Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha has signed an MOU with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) for implementation of Smart Queue Management System. After implementation of the system, applicants will need not to stand in queue for availing various services at RTOs in Odisha.

In the first phase, the project will be implemented in Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-1, Cuttack, Ganjam, Puri, and Driving Testing Track at RTO-2, Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of Rs 2.18 crore. The new system will be gradually implemented in other RTOs.

The Smart Queue Management System will improve the citizens’ experience in the RTOs. Applicants can book the slot in advance through online portal or can come directly to RTOs for different services related to vehicle, driving licence etc. When an applicant comes directly, a token will be generated at the office. The citizens need not stand in queues. They can comfortably sit inside the office for their turn. There will be display systems at all the counters to announce the token numbers. The applicants can know the approximate waiting time for getting the service through predictive forecasting by the system. The citizens will receive notification for their service from time to time.

This will reduce the average waiting time and improve the service delivery. The Smart Queue system will be implemented for all the services by the RTO offices related to vehicles, driving licences, challans etc. This system will also be implemented in the Learner’s Licence and Driving Licence test centres to improve the experience of the applicants.
