Russian company picks Odisha ITER its authorized training centre

Quantorform Limited, the Russian company known globally for its great contribution to the forging industry, has chosen the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), the faculty of engineering of Odisha’s SOA University, as its only authorized training centre in India.

ITERQForm, as it is known, will conduct its training in 2D/3D software at ITER with Dr Olga I. Bylya and Prof MK Sarangi as the QForm simulation instructors, a SOA University release said.

ITER was awarded the certificate to be the authorized QuantorForm Ltd training centre at a two-day workshop on the subject which concluded on Tuesday.

Pavel Mordvintsev, Lead Manager of QuantorForm, Russia presented the certificate to Sarangi.

Around 150 participants including engineers from metal forming industries, students, researchers and faculties from colleges and universities attended the workshop.

Prof Amit Banerjee, vice-chancellor of SOA University, chaired the inaugural session which was addressed by Prof Omkarnath Mohanty, former vice-chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Prof PK Nanda, dean (Research) of SOA University and Prof PK Sahoo, dean, ITER.

In his address, Prof Sarangi said the application of the method through use of software like Q-Form could be useful for students learning and getting placed in metal forming industries and those aiming to pursue higher studies in the above field.

This process could reduce the cost of the forged parts for automobiles, aircrafts, space crafts and hand tools while improving service properties and reliability simultaneously, he said.

Prof MK Sarangi and Prof SK Sarangi, both of the mechanical engineering department of ITER, were the coordinators for the workshop.
