Puri: A senior servitor of the Sakhigopal Temple in Odisha's Puri district was allegedly attacked by two non-servitors over a dispute regarding entry of non-servitors into the temple premises on Tuesday.
The victim, Kishore Chandra Mohapatra, sustained severe injuries on chest after being attacked by Krushnachandra Mohapatra and Kirti Ranjan Mohapatra. He was initially taken to Satyabadi Hospital and later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition worsened.
Reports said the Sakhigopal Temple Servitors’ Association held a meeting at Jageswari Mandap on Tuesday. During the meeting, Mohapatra voiced his concern over the entry of non-servitors into the temple, which led to a heated argument with the two non-servitors. Mohapatra accused Krushnachandra and Kirti Ranjan of extorting devotees while posing as temple servitors.
In response, Krushnachandra and Kirti Ranjan attacked Mohapatra in the presence of the association's president and secretary.
Satyabadi police have started investigation into the incident.
