Bhubaneswar: The Vegetable Traders' Association has warned of halting the sale of vegetables in Odisha capital from October 20 protesting lack of proper road for arrival of vegetable-laden vehicles to the Unit-I market here.

Informing about it, Kabiraj Swain, president of the association, said the road leading to the Unit-I vegetable market has been occupied by puja pandal, for which the vehicles carrying vegetables are unable to reach the market. It has forced the traders to carry vegetables to their shops from a long distance.

As the shopkeepers drew the attention of the Unit-I Traders' Association towards the matter, they were advised to use another road located in a residential area in the vicinity. However, the residents opposed the movement of the vegetable-laden vehicles in the locality, he said.

In view of the issue, the association has decided to stop selling vegetables from October 20, he added.
