Salesman shot dead in Odisha capital

A young liquor shop salesman was shot dead by an unidentified assailant at Aiginia on the outskirts of Odisha’s capital city late on Wednesday night, police sources said.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar Sahu alias Raka (25) from Jagatsinghpur, the sources added.

According to reports, two persons parked their car in front of the liquor shop located near the Aigania over-bridge around 10.45 pm and and walked away after taking their requirements.

Rakesh followed them to their car for payment but the two quietly got into the car without paying anything. When Rakesh insisted on payment, one of them took out a revolver and fired at Rakesh’s head from point blank range, killing him on the spot.

The assailants sped away in their car before the local people could reach them.

The commissioner of police (CP) Dr RP Sharma, DCP Nitinjit Singh and other police officials reached the spot soon after the incident and seized the CCTV footage from the liquor shop.

The body the killed salesman Rakesh has been sent to the Capital Hospital for autopsy.
