Cuttack: Police today submitted its charge sheet in the Salipur minor girl rape and murder case.
The charge sheet containing 500 pages was submitted by the police before the Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court here in record time-exactly 12 days after the death of the victim.
Sources in the police said, the accused has been charged under sections 363, 376 and 302 of IPC and section 6 of the POCSO Act.
It is worthwhile to mention here that a six-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped, strangulated and left inside a school campus at Jagannathpur village under Salepur police limits in Cuttack district on April 21.
The girl, who had gone to purchase chocolates in her village but did not return, was found unconscious without clothes inside the village school campus with blood oozing from her head and mouth after a frantic search by her family members and other villagers.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby private nursing home and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.
While the accused identified as Mohammad Mustafa, a 25-year-old youth of the same village was arrested by the police on the very next day of the occurrence of the incident, the victim despite all efforts by a 13-member team of doctors breathed her last on April 29.
