Saltwater crocodile found dead in Odisha’s Chandbali

Chandbali: The body of a 10-ft long ‘Baula’ (saltwater) crocodile was found floating on the water on the bank of Baitarani River here today.

The locals first spotted the dead crocodile floating on the water near Kaudiapal village in Ora Sahi panchayat under Chandbali block in Bhadrak district this afternoon.

After getting information from the locals, the forest officials under Bhadrak (Wildlife) Division located at Chandbali rushed the spot and recovered the body of saltwater crocodile from the water.

The female crocodile was reportedly pregnant. The body was sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of her death.
