Samantha changes moniker on social media following split

Bhubaneswar: Couple of days after actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and husband Naga Chaitanya announced their separation on social media, the actress has changed her moniker on the social media. Samantha changed the social media moniker from ‘S’ to her first name ‘Samantha’.

She has over 19 million followers on her Instagram account.

On Saturday, Samantha announced her separation from Naga and wrote on the social media, “To all our well wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that wass the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya got married in Goa in 2017 and announced their separation in a joint statement on the social media.

Rumours of Samantha’s divorce from Naga started doing the rounds in July, when Samantha changed her name on her social media accounts. It was changed from Samantha Akkineni to simply the first letter in her name “S.”

Nagarjuna, father of Naga Chaitanya, had reacted to the development with a sweet parting note. Taking to social media, the superstar said, “With a heavy heart let me say this! Whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal. Sam and Chay are both dear to me. My family will always cherish the moments spent with Sam and she will always be dear to us. May God bless them both.”
