Sambhab Mishra from Odisha conferred Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2023

Bhubaneswar: Sambhab Mishra from Odisha was conferred with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar-2023.

He received the prestigious award from President Droupadi Murmu during a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday evening.

The 16-year-old boy from Sikharpur area in Cuttack city of Odisha was among 11 children awarded at the function for their exceptional achievements. He was nominated for the national award for his achievements in field of Art and Culture.

Sambhab Mishra from Odisha has written many noteworthy articles and books for renowned publications. He was bestowed with the prestigious “Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society, London”, the youngest ever fellow in the 200 years history of the society, tweeted Union Women & Child Development Minister Smriti Irani today.

Sambhab is the student of Lajpat Rai Dav Public School at Cuttack. He was applauded by former Vice President M V Venkaiah Naidu, received appreciation letters from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and spiritual leader Dalai Lama for his books.

This year, 11 children from 11 states/UTs representing the diversity of the nation were selected for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar instituted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, of which five were girls.

Each received a medal, Rs 1 lakh cash prize and a certificate from President Droupadi Murmu and Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.

The awardees of this year include one each in the category of Bravery and Social Service, two in the category of Innovation, three in Sports, and four in Art & Culture.

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Munjpara Mahendrabhai was also present at the special function.
