Samiti member candidate’s missing husband rescued from farmland; critical

Dhenkanal: The missing husband of Samiti member candidate Bharati Rath for Sankulei Panchayat in Dhenkanal district was rescued in unconscious state from a farmland near Bajichowk under Town police limits today.

Chinmay Das, who was missing since the night of February 16, was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here in critical condition.

Reportedly, Chinmay, a resident of Kumardeipur, dropped his wife home in the night of February 16 after election campaigning and left for Bebarta Kateni on a two-wheeler for some work. Later, he called her wife and informed that some miscreants detained and thrashed him midway. The next morning, his vehicle was found on Dholpasi-Sankulei road with blood stain on it.

Soon after, his wife lodged a missing complaint with Dhenkanal Sadar police in this regard.

Based on the complaint, police had swung into action and launched a search operation.
