Sandalwood tree stolen in Gajapati district of Odisha

Gajapati, Feb 16:
A sandalwood tree has been stolen from the premises of R. Udaygiri tehsildar’s residence in Gajapati district of Odisha last night.
Sandalwood mafias cut the tree late at night yesterday and escaped with parts of it from the high security area which is barely 50 metres away from R. Udaygiri police station and in front of block office.
Police reached at the spot this morning and took remains of the tree to its possession.
Police have launched probe into the theft filing a case.
No one has been arrested yet.
In a similar incident, another sandalwood tree was stolen from the tehsildar’s residential premises around eight months ago.
