“There are many big names involved in this (chit fund scam). Although Sanjay’s name has come up, he is a small fish,” said the former chief strategist of BJD speaking to reporters today.

Further pressed by reporters on the demands seeking Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FSCW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma’s resignation on moral grounds, Pyari said, “You shouldn’t ask the ‘moral’ question to me. It should be taken up with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. At one point CBI was used to search my house. I won’t make any further comments on the ongoing investigations”.

Mohapatra’s statements bear significance given his previous association with Biju Janata Dal, where he was widely believed to be the most important decision maker.

BJD Spokesperson, however, rubbished the allegations.

“He keeps making such baseless allegations to stay in limelight. He was running the party earlier. If he really knows people that are involved in the chit fund scam and has concrete evidence against them, why doesn’t he come up with the names! No one is stopping him to do so. Making wild allegations without solid proof doesn’t suit a man of his stature,” said party Spokesperson Amar Prasad Satpathy.
