Fake godman Sarathi Baba aka Santosh Raul and his adopted son Satyam currently lodged in Circle jail in Cuttack, were presented before the SDM through video conferencing and their remand has been extended to November 23rd.

Sarathi Baba and Satyam were presented through video conference to Cuttack Sadar SDM, yesterday. Sarathi has been presented to the court on Crime Branch registered case for the earlier case as well as the case of the girl student case, registered under SC and ST prevention of atrocities act. Satyam has been presented for main case.

Self styled godman Sarathi had been arrested by the crime branch from his ashram in Barimula village outskirts of Kendrapara town under section 420 (cheating) ,467 (,Forgery) 468, (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) ,471 Forgery for purpose of cheating), 506, criminal intimidation), 321 (Voluntarily causing hurt) and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 25 of the Arms Act.Crime branch officials also freezed Sarathi Baba’s accounts and his Satyam Charitable trust in the State Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, Punjab National Bank and United Bank and Urban Cooperative Bank at Kendrapara.

On Thursday, 1:30 pm in District judge court, in the video conferencing room, Cuttack sadar SDM B K Das and APP Bishwajit Baral were present there, while, Sarathi and Satyam were in Choudwar Circle jail. The purpose of the video conferencing was to present the duo before court and extension of their judicial custody.
