SBI Manager tests COVID-19 positive in Odisha; 2 branches sealed

Paralakhemundi: Out of the 29 COVID-19 positive cases detected in Gajapati district, one is  the Manager of State Bank of India (SBI) Paralakhemundi Main Branch. The branch has been sealed following detection of the case, informed district collector Anupam Shah today.

Besides, another branch of the bank  in market area here has also been sealed, he added.

Briefing mediapersons, the Collector said the Branch Manager was staying in Bhubaneswar after he fell ill some days ago. During his stay, he underwent COVID test and his reports came positive. Since he used to visit both the branches in Paralakhemundi, the offices have been sealed to prevent entry of the people and thereby curbing spread of  the virus. Efforts are afoot for complete sanitization of the two bank branches, he added.

The collector also informed that all staff of the two SBI offices have been asked to remain under home quarantine and undergo COVID-19 test.

Worth mentioning,  the number of total positive cases in the district stands at 384, including 286 active cases. However, 98 patients have recovered whereas no casualty has been reported so far .
