SC grants bail to Odisha godman Sura Baba

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court today granted bail to Sura Baba alias Surendranath Mishra in a land fraud case in Chhatrapur area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, informed his counsel Ashok Panigrahy today.

The Orissa High Court had earlier rejected his bail plea in the case following which Sura Baba had moved the apex court for bail.

Notably, a person had lodged a complaint against Sura Baba and his son at the Chhatrapur police station of having committed land fraud.

After controversies regarding Trahi Achyuta Ashram surfaced leading to his arrest, the Odisha Crime Branch registered an FIR against Sura Baba and his son in the land fraud case.
