SCB gas leak: Collector submits report to Odisha govt

Cuttack: Cuttack Collector Sudarshan Mohapatra today informed that the joint inquiry committee probing the recent chlorine gas leak at the SCB Medical College & Hospital has submitted its report to the State government.

A six-member joint inquiry committee headed by Cuttack Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Raghuram Iyer had conducted a probe into the gas leak.

The report has suggested on measures for preventing such mishaps in future and action against those responsible for the lapse leading to the gas leak.

“The joint inquiry committee headed by ADM Raghuram Iyer has submitted its inquiry report. It has been submitted to the H & UD department. The findings are confidential. It is up to the government to decide and take action. The inquiry report has details on how it occurred and has suggestions on measures to prevent such mishaps in future,” Mohapatra said.

Notably, around 46 persons had fallen ill following chlorine gas leak from a pump house of the Public Health Engineering Organization (PHEO) inside SCB Medical College and Hospital campus last Wednesday.
