Scheme for children of construction workers launched in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Giving a Dussehra gift to construction workers and their children, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched another welfare scheme ‘Nirman Kusum Yojana’ here today.

Under the scheme, the children of construction workers will be provided financial assistance for technical education.

The scheme was inaugurated at a state level function at Jayadev Bhawan.

Attending the programme, CM Patnaik provided the financial aid to the children of more than 500 construction workers registered under Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board for ITI and Diploma education.

According to reports, the eligible beneficiaries will get the maximum amount of Rs 23,600 for ITI education under Nirman Kusum scheme, Rs 26,300 will be provided for construction workers’ children to pursue diploma education in state-run technical institutions.

Notably, the financial aid of total Rs 1.09 crore is being deposited directly at bank accounts of 1,878 beneficiaries for 2018-19 academic session.

During the programme, Patnaik also hiked ex gratia amount from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh (in case of natural death) and from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh (in case of accidental death) for the registered construction workers.
