School girl develops hybrid bicycle from e-waste in Odisha

Angul: A school girl developed a hybrid bicycle, which can be operated both on battery and pedal, using electronic waste here in Angul district.

Ronali Mohanty, the Class IX student of Saraswati Vidya Mandir at Nalco in Angul district, has used a 10 ampire motor, 250-watt battery, a light and horn to develop the hybrid bicycle.

The cycle can carry items weigh upto 120 kg upto 40 km once gets charged for four hours.

She has spent Rs 5,000 in making of the bicycle from the e-waste.

According to reports, Ronali stays with her parents at a rented house near FCI Chhak at Nalco in Angul district. Even, she is riding the bicycle to reach her school every day.

As the motor vehicles create hazards to the environment, the pollution will be lesser if the school students use such kind of bicycle, Ronali said.
