School owner detained for raping woman on pretext of job in Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: The police today detained a private school owner for allegedly raping a woman in Bondamunda area of Rourkela town.

As per the complaint, elder sister of a student of the private school located in Sector-1 of Bondamunda met the school owner requesting him to allow her some more time to pay pending school fees of six months. Citing the poor financial condition of her family, the woman sought more time to pay the school fees of her younger brother.

But the school owner assured the woman to waive her younger brother’s school fees. Also, the accused promised the woman to provide a job.

With all these promises, the school owner raped the woman on several occasions in past six months. Instead of providing a job, the school owner issued life threats to the woman, the complaint stated.

Following this, the woman sought an intervention of Rourkela SP K Siva Subramani. Based on the complaint, the Bondamunda police detained the school owner for questioning today.

The woman was sent for a medical examination.

Sources said the accused owns another school located in Bisra area and is an active member of a political party.
