Balasore: A 10-year-old school student died as a water tank collapsed on him on the premises of the educational institution at Padmapur under Chandipur police limits in Odisha's Balasore district, today.

The deceased was identified as Narayan Tudu of Khordha. He was a student of class-IV of Banchhanidhi English Medium School.

As per reports, the accident took place in the morning when Narayan, along with other hostel inmates, went to wash their hands after breakfast. While they were washing their hands, the water tank collapsed.

Several students sustained minor injuries while Narayan was directly hit by the tank, suffering severe head and leg injuries. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Balasore, where the doctors declared him dead.

The Chandipur police have initiated an investigation into the incident. According to the school's principal, the water tank unexpectedly collapsed while the students were washing their hands, resulting in Narayan's death.
