School students allowed taking part in Independence Day celebrations: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Students of schools in Odisha are allowed to take part in Independence Day celebrations at their respective educational institutions as per revised guideline of the State government, School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said mediapersons today morning.

Minister Dash was previously quoted as saying, “As per guideline issued by the State government, Independence Day celebrations this year will be held in schools without the participation of students. Teachers are required to remain present during the celebrations.”

Keeping in mind rising cases of Covid-19 in the State and to curb any probable spread of the virus, government decided not to allow congregation of students, the Minister had earlier said.

It is pertinent to mention, there will be no parade on this year’s Independence Day in Odisha due to the prevailing Covid situation. A decision in this regard has been taken by the government at a preparatory meeting for observation of the Independence Day.
