School teacher sentenced to life for ‘unnatural sex act’ with minor boy in Odisha

Rayagada: A teacher of a renowned private school in Odisha’s Rayagada district has been sentenced to life in prison for sodomising and “unnatural sexual act” with a seven-year-old boy.

The court of the additional district and session judge, Rayagada held the accused, N. Udayakumar guilty on the basis of the evidence by the deceased’s parents, saying that their testimony is corroborated by the medical evidence.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the school teacher.

“The court today awarded life sentence to N. Udaykumar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,” said Public Prosecutor C.H. Srinivas Rao.

Notably, the school teacher had sodomised and forcefully kept unnatural sex with the Class-III student finding him alone in the school in 2017.

The matter came to light when the minor was admitted to a hospital in Vizag after he fell unwell.

On the basis of medical report, the parents of the victim had lodged a complaint with police in July, 2017.
