Schools in Odisha to reopen for Class 6 & 7 students from Nov 15

Bhubaneswar: Schools across Odisha will reopen for Class 6 and 7 students from November 15, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash here today.

The department concerned will release a detailed notification in this regard soon.

Briefing mediapersons, Dash said though COVID-19 is on a downward trend in the state, the physical classes will be held in adherence to all safety norms. SOPs that are being followed for classroom teaching of Class 8 to 12 students will be followed for these students too. Timing for the physical classes will be disclosed soon.

Teaching hours for Class 6 and 7 students will be 9.30 AM to 1 PM. Students will be allowed to attend classes either online or offline mode.

As per the SOP, cooked mid-day meal will not be served to the students and dry ration will be provided to them instead.

“The process to resume physical classes has already begun. However, no decision on reopening of schools for primary students (Class 1-5) has been taken yet,” the Minister said

Earlier, Dash had informed that offline classes for students of Class 1 to Class 5 are likely to resume by New Year. Currently, offline classes are being held only for Class 8 to 12 students.
