Schools to reopen on June 22 in this Odisha district; check revised timing

Sambalpur: While schools across Odisha set to reopen tomorrow on June 21 (Wednesday) after over two-month-long summer vacation, it will be delayed for one day in Sambalpur district.

As per a notification released by Sambalpur District Education Office, the schools in Sambalpur district will reopen on June 22 instead of June 21 after summer vacation.

The decision has been taken in view of prevailing heatwave condition in western part of Odisha.

As per the revised schedule, the classes will begin at 6.30 am till 10 am from June 22 to June 24. The mid-day meal will be served to students between 9.30 am and 10 am.

The schools will function with regular timetable from June 26 onwards.

The State Government had announced summer vacation for schools from April 21 due to extreme heatwave conditions during scorching summer in Odisha.

Earlier, the schools were scheduled to reopen on June 19. The vacation was extended till June 21 due to severe heatwave condition across the state.

Considering the weather prediction, the School & Mass Education Department yesterday decided to reopen all schools on June 21 with as usual timing.

However, the State Government authorised the collectors of seven districts including Sambalpur to take decision on declaring holidays and fixing schedule for schools if required in view of the heatwave conditions in their respective districts.
