Science Express train arrives at Bhadrak Railway Station in Odisha

Bhadrak, May 9:

Science Express train on the theme ‘Climate Change’ scheduled to travel Odisha with an objective to make people aware about climate change and anticipated impacts and different issues related to it today arrived at Bhadrak Railway Station.

Hundreds of students and teachers from various schools in the district got an opportunity to see the models inside the train after District Education Officer (DEO) Ranjan Kumar Giri inaugurated the train here.

According to Railways sources, the Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) will be halted at Bhadrak station till May 12. It will stay at Puri station from May 13-16, at Chatrapur from May 17-19. Later, it will move to Kottavalasa in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh from May 20-23.

The visitors are allowed into the train from 10 am till 6 pm at the stations during the scheduled dates. There are 16 AC compartments in the train, out of which 8 bogies come under Ministry of Forest and Climate Change.

The basic aim behind SECAS, a unique collaborative initiative of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Ministry of Railways is to create awareness among people especially the students about impacts of climate change on earth and the ways to address it.
