Scribe attacked in Balasore, admitted to hospital

Balasore: A journalist working with a vernacular newspaper was attacked by two miscreants here this morning over suspected past enmity.

The victim identified as Radhakrusna Sahu was attacked with a sword while he visited block chhak in Baliapal to distribute newspapers to the hawkers.

He sustained injuries on four fingers and right thigh.

The block correspondent was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Baliapal for treatment. After his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the CHC in Rupsa of Balasore district.

One of attackers is identified as Ayaskant Sahu, a resident of Chatua area in Baliapal.

“I was attacked while reading newspaper at chhak in the morning,” said the victim.

He alleged Ayaskant Sahu of attacking him over financial issues.

“His father had borrowed money from several people and I had helped him in arranging money at interest rate. When I put pressure on him to refund money, his father had promised before police to clear the loan and due amount. However, neither is he paying back nor communicating with me,” he added.
