Prohibitory orders have been imposed in a village in Odisha’s Balasore district following a group clash between two groups today.

According to reports, a bloody clash ensued between two groups at Jankharai village under Sadar police limits in the district, a day after Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the state.

The warring groups belonging to a minority community allegedly attacked each other in which at least six people have been injured in the incident. Besides, the mob set three houses afire.

When police reached the spot, the men in uniform were also assaulted by the villagers.

Following the incident, acid bottles, lathis and lethal weapons were seized from the village. Police also conducted house searches for weapons hidden in the houses.

As tension prevailed in the area, Sec 144 of CrPC has been imposed to maintain law and order and prevent further flare-up. Police forces have been deployed to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, around 50 villagers have been arrested for their involvement in the clash.

The injured have been admitted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
