Sec 144 imposed in and around temples and mosques in Odisha

Jagatsinghpur/Jajpur: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation and to restrict the congregation of public, the district administration in Jajpur imposed Section 144 in and around Biraja Temple tomorrow whereas the Jagatsinghpur district administration clamped Sec 144 in the premises of different temples and Mosques and Idgah grounds in the district.

The Jajpur district administration said in an order as large number of devotees/public are expected to gather in and around of Maa Biraja Temple to perform rituals/worship on occasion of Sabitri Amabasya tomorrow, Sub-Collector Narayan Chandra Dhal promulgated the prohibitory orders.

The order further said the Maa Biraja Temple, Jajpur, which has remained closed since March 18 for public/devotees, will remain closed till the extension period of lock down up to May 31.

Meanwhile, the Jagatsinghpur district administration said a large gathering is anticipated in the premises of different temples Sabitri Amabasya tomorrow and imposed the prohibitory orders.

Besides, the administration clamped Section 144 in and around Mosques and Idgah grounds to offer prayer on the occasion of id-Ul-Fitre. There are sufficient grounds for imposing Section 144 CrPC to prevent the spread of COVID-19. More than four persons will not be allowed to gather in and around all Mosques and Idgah grounds in the district from May 24 to 26, the order stated.
