SEC writes to Odisha Chief Secy and DGP on poll violence

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17:

Expressing concern over rising incidents of violence and deteriorating law and order situation during the ensuing three-tier panchayat polls, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Rabi Narayan Senapati today directed the state Chief Secretary  and DG Police to take immediate steps to curb it.

The Commissioner in his letters to Chief Secretary A P Padhi and DGP K B Singh has stated that incidents of post-poll violence have been reported at several places.

Senapati has sought for curbing of such incidents while further seeking protection for voters, polling parties and candidates.

The Commissioner has pointed out to complaints of political involvement of government employees.
