Second phase medical counseling begins in Odisha

The second phase counseling for 269 MBBS and 88 BDS seats in three government and two private medical colleges and hospitals in Odisha began today.

Students who had not registered their name and verified their documents in the first phase counseling, can register their name in the website of the Director, Medical Education and Training (DMET) www.dmetodisha.gov.in by 3 PM on Thursday and get their documents verified at the SCB Dental College.

However, the students, before going for online registration, must ensure their names are enlisted in the merit list prepared by the DMET. 1325 students have been included in the list.

Allotment of seats would be made by the evening of July 27.

It may be mentioned here that a total of 613 students were allotted seats in the first phase counseling. However, there were a large number of vacant seats as the students did not take admission in the two private medical colleges and hospitals.

Keeping this in view, the second phase counseling aims at filling up these vacant seats in these two private medical colleges and those in the government medical colleges after the All India Medical Counseling.

Around 730 students are expected to participate in the second phase counseling, DMET sources said.

The second phase counseling would be held for a total of 103 MBBS seats in SCB Medical College, Cuttack, 24 MBBS seats in MKCG Medical College, Brahmapur, 19 MBBS seats in VSS Medical College, Burla, 62 MBBS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar, 61 MBBS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela, 9 BDS seats in SCB Medical College and 79 BDS seats in High-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar.

After the allotment of seats, the students will have to report to the concerned medical colleges by August 3, the DMET officials said, adding, that the third phase counseling would be held in the second week of September in case there are vacant seats even after the second phase counseling.

Admission in 250 MBBS and 50 BDS seats in SCB Medical College, 150 MBBS seats in MKCG and VSS Medical Colleges, 100 MBBS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela and 100 MBBS seats and 100 BDS seats in Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar will be held in the current academic session.
