In a bid to restrain political parties from distributing voters’ slips, popularly known as ‘chirkuti’ among the voters during the election campaign, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has decided to issue genuine voters’ slips to all the voters of the state in the forthcoming general and Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

Talking to media persons on Thursday, CEO Mona Sharma said the voter’s slip will have the name of the voter and the booths where they can exercise their franchise.

A decision to this effect has been taken after receiving complaints against political parties, who were found trying to woo the voters in their favour while distributing voters’ slips, the CEO said.
