Section 144 clamped at Odisha town following clash between two groups

Bhubaneswar: The administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC at Bangomunda in Odisha’s Balangir district following a clash between two groups two days ago.

The prohibitory order has been clamped at Bangomunda till the midnight of October 26, said a senior official of the district administration today.

The police also conducted a flag march at the town to restore law and order, added the official.

A clash ensued between two groups of people from Dalit and Tribal communities over some issues during Chhatara Jatra at Bangomunda two days ago, sources said.

A group of Tribals had gheraoed the Bangomunda police station yesterday seeking action against members of the Dalit community involved in the group clash.

The police have so far arrested five persons in connection with the clash.

“The administration has deployed armed police force to check any untoward incident at Bangomunda. Balangir Additional SP Suresh Nayak and Kantabanji SDPO Gourang Charan Sahu are now monitoring the law and order in the locality,” added the official.
