Section 144 imposed at religious, tourist places in this Odisha district

Dhenkanal: Anticipating spread of COVID-19 due to possible congregation during Christmas and New Year, Dhenkanal district administration imposed Section 144 in and around religious and tourist places with effect from tomorrow.

The prohibitory order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) will remain in force from December 25, 2021 till January 2, 2022, Dhenkanal Collectorate informed today.

During the period, people will not be allowed to visit tourist places, different religious institutions and religious functions in the district to prevent transmission of COVID-19 amid Omicron variant scare.

Surrounded by wildlife and forests, Dhenkanal district of Odisha is famous for many temples and festivals. The district is among top tourist destinations for the places including Kapilas, Saptasajya, Naganatheswar temple, Joranda, Dandadhar and Saranga.
