Security Guard shot at by miscreants in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a security guard of a Kalyan Mandap at Tankapani Road here was critically injured after two unidentified miscreants opened fire at him in the wee hours today.

The security guard identified as Gyanendra Mallick has been admitted to a private hospital here in critical condition.

Sources said the two miscreants came to the Kalyan Mandap at around 5.30 AM today and enquired about the owner of the Mandap. Later, they asked to security guard to give them some water. When he gave a water bottle to the duo, the latter opened fire at him and fled the spot.

Gyanendra, who sustained bullet injuries on his back, was first admitted to the Capital Hospital here and later shifted to a city-based private hospital.

However, the cause behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
