Selection for National Karate Championship-2016 to begin in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Apr 16:

The first-level selection for National Karate Championship-2016, scheduled to be held in New Delhi between May 20 and 22, is set to begin in Odisha Capital.

The candidates would be selected from the ongoing 28th edition of Odisha State Karate Championship (Junior, Sub Junior and Cadet) that began yesterday at Utkal Karate School of Bhubaneswar.

As many as 415 participants along with 106 officials from 22 districts under 28 categories are taking part in the three-day-long event. The championship will draw to an end on April 17, said Secretary of Odisha State Karate Association (OSKA) Hariprasad Patnaik.

The event was inaugurated yesterday by Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena in presence of BMC Corporator Debashis Sit and Karate Association of India’s Chief of Referee Council Shihan Paramjeet Singh.
